So you’re shopping for a mattress during the COVID-19 pandemic. Your experience will vary, of course, depending on where you live and whether your local mattress stores are currently operating. Now that Beautyrest Sleep Gallery has reopened its stores in Springfield and Branson, many of our local customers are wondering how they can safely shop for a mattress. To avoid germs and prevent the spread of coronavirus in your community, use the tips below.
Shopping for a Mattress During COVID-19
Wash your hands before and after in-store shopping.
Whether you’re in the midst of a global pandemic or not, washing your hands is one of the best ways to prevent a virus from spreading. To wash your hands properly, be sure to use warm water and soap, and scrub for at least 20 seconds before you rinse your hands with water. When it comes to mattress shopping, be sure to wash your hands before and after you visit the mattress showroom. At Beautyrest Sleep Gallery, you can use our bathroom to wash your hands thoroughly before and after shopping. We also have hand sanitizer available.
Check that your mattress store is diligent about cleaning.
After so many housebound weeks, it can be a little nerve-racking to shop at a store in person. To relieve your worries, you may wish to check your mattress store’s website or social media profiles to learn how they’re preparing their store for customers at this time. You could also give the store a call to learn more about their current hygiene procedures.
At Beautyrest Sleep Gallery, our team is regularly and thoroughly disinfecting our showrooms – including frequently touched surfaces like door handles, desks, and restrooms – to protect our customers and our employees. For your comfort and convenience, we are using disposable pillow case covers as well. Furthermore, we are following all CDC guidelines and local regulations.
Maintain social distancing and wear a mask.
As the virus is thought to spread mainly from person to person, the CDC advises that you maintain social distancing by staying at least six feet away from all people who are not in your household. Remember that despite not showing symptoms of the virus, some infected people may still be able to spread the virus.
In addition, wear a cloth face mask the entire time that you are out in public, but remember that a mask is not meant as a substitute for social distancing. You still need to avoid close contact with other customers and employees.
Finally, though we sincerely hope that you don’t need the reminder, please remember to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (or your elbow) if you need to cough or sneeze.
Consider shopping online and scheduling a home delivery.
Still not 100% comfortable with the idea of shopping for a mattress in-store right now? Remember that you can always shop online and schedule a home delivery. You might wish to explore bed-in-a-box mattresses, which arrive in a convenient package the size of a coffee table. After you remove the mattress from the box, it will transform into a regular-sized mattress. Convenient, comfortable, and versatile, bed-in-a-box mattresses are becoming more and more popular. Plus, most come with generous trial periods so that you can ensure the mattress fits your needs before you commit to it.
During this time of stress and uncertainty, it’s especially important that you get high-quality sleep to maintain your mental and physical health. Don’t put off the purchase of a new mattress if yours is on its last legs. With some basic precautions, you can shop for a new mattress while protecting your health and the well-being of your community.
